601 California Street, 16th Floor San Francisco, CA 94108 Phone: 415-392-3661 RRothmanJ@aol.com The legal basis for divorce in California is only "irreconcilable differences". Neither party has to prove that the other is at fault, or was "unfaithful". There are many ways a couple can go about a dissolution of marriage. There might be full scale litigation, with a Court Trial. Other people choose meditation as a less expensive and less combative way to end a marriage. Still other couples choose "Collaborative" as a way to proceed. Consultation with an experienced Family Law attorney is the best way to understand the alternatives. Mr. Rothman is an experienced family law attorney seeking to resolve cases by negotiation if possible, but well able to protect a client’s rights if litigation becomes necessary. He also serves as a Family Law Settlement Master for the San Francisco and Marin Superior Courts. His expertise extends to child custody, child and spousal support, division of assets, valuation of businesses, premarital agreements, domestic violence, and restraining orders, and mediation. He is well known in all the Bay Area courts. As former chairman of the Tax Section of the Bar Association of San Francisco and Tax Committee of the Barristers Club he brings an added dimension to family law cases. The area of law referred to as "Family Law" includes dissolution of marriage (divorce), child custody, child support, spousal support (alimony), and modification of existing support orders.
